Momiji is the Japanese maple. It is a tree species of the maple family found in Japan, Korea and China. It is a deciduous tree.
It blooms in April and May, the seeds ripen in September. In autumn, the maple's leaves turn red and fall, decorating the streets of Japan and Korea.
Momiji means red leaves in Japanese. Leaves are yellowish-brown hairy when they first bloom; branches are yellow-purple.
